The hummingbirds have made themselves at home on the back patio. The feeder must be kept filled and ready for the visitors. There are three birds who visit the most.
Prissy is the tiniest one. You just look up and it is there. Quietly, it flies in and stays a while drinking and resting. Chirpy is the next one to appear. It lets us know when it is coming. It is a noisy little bugger, singing and flapping the whole time it is at the feeder. And the biggest one is Bossy. Bossy flaps the loudest, chases any other bird off the feeder and wants to be alone while feeding. If it wants to feed and another bird is there ,it will chase it away.
Alice’s Country Diary Quilt

This is the next big project I am working on.. Alice’s Country Diary Quilt is both English Paper Pieced and embroidery. I am using the called for DMC as listed in the book. I am also using a layer cake of white bella solids for the embrodiery center. I have white bella fabric to use for the background, also.
I use a light box to trace the embrodiery pattern onto the fabric. I have a .005 fine point pen for tracing. It is fine enough that I can stitch right to the line or a little over it to hide it. It is a very portable project. The pieces for the epp are cut from jelly rolls of Emily Bell by Liberty Fabric. There are 25 embroidery blocks and some partial blocks to complete the quilt.
***Tip ~~ Run a lint roller over the top and bottom of your jelly rolls when you open them. It helps with all the fluff that can fly around and make you look like went through a snow storm!
Advent 2025 quilt
I am also working on Elise Baek’s 2025 Advent blocks. I hope to have those done by July 1. They are done with batiks and I must say they are a little rough on my fingers when trying to sew them together. I do have rock climbing tape that I use instead of a thimble for my fingers. By the way, if you ever see me rock climbing, call search and rescue. I am not in my right mind and I know this body can’t handle it!
Here are three of my blocks… I have 5 more to make out of 25.
